SoxFest day 3

I'll post pics later.

Like most years, the time on Sunday is limited due to my parents watching my kids and the desire to make the 3 hour trip home while there is still daylight.  The lack of stars on Sunday also had something to do with it being a short trip.  There were a couple of players I would have loved to got but they seem to be regulars so I will hit them up in future years.

I got in line about 6:15-6:30 and was surprised how few people were waiting.  I decided to forego the 9:00 signings in favor of Zack Collins and Zack Burdi at 9:30.  We were able to get a wristband in about the 40-50 range so we were good to go there.  As we got Burdi earlier, I had a panoramic and our flag to get signed with him.  I was hoping to get collins on some cards but the security was keeping an eye on the one-per rule.  I am happy to get Collins on the multi-signed items.

We finished with Collins and Burdi at 9:45 so we went to see how the 9:00 signings were going.  Willie Harris and Charlie Tilson still had wristbands available so we went to there line and got Willie on some world series stuff and Tilson on our flag and panoramic.

We then saw the coaches line was still giving out braclets.  Cooper cancelled but was able to get Renteria and Steverson on some multi-signed items.  We then called it a day.

All in all, this was our most succesful Soxfest in terms of autographs and players as we ever had.  I look forward to spring training beginning and seeing how the season goes.

Final count 108 autographs from 26 players!

Soxfest day 2

i got in line about 6:00.  They hadn't opened the waiting area so we were ok the hallway and I wasn't sure how far back we were.  Once we got in the waiting area, I saw that we were about 300th in line.

I would have been happy with any of the first signings but decided to go with bo Jackson.  We were pretty early in the line and he was quick with signing as it was only the provided photo.  We were able to sneak into another 9:00 signing with Tim Anderson.  Last year Tim signed multiples but not this year so we got a photo and a topps now card.

As there were not any signings until 10:30, we got a bracket for tyler Danish and nate jones. As nate signed a lot for us yesterday, we got him on a baseball and a photo for my daughter.  Tyler Signed 6 cards and 2 multi signed items

After, I was hoping to get Matt Davidson and zack Collins but we just missed so we went back to Eric soderholm and Ken kravec to get on some team photos.  I had one more card from Jennings to get so I was hoping to get in an 11:30 line but it was closed so I got a bracket for 1:00 signing with Carson fulmer and Miguel Gonzalez while my wife went in tyler saladino's line to get an 8x10 for my other daughter.

While waiting for the 1:00 signing, I walked around and saw Ron Kittle signing.  I know he doesn't sign his topps rookie card without a fee, I had cash for him and he started to sign but he smeared it.  He said he would get another for me and sign at his 2:30 so he teared it up but signed  my other card of his

After I got fulmer on a card and Gonzalez on one multisigned item, I got in line for renteria and got him on the same item.

I then went back to get a bracket for kittle and Baines but just missed it so we got our brackets for Harris and darrin Jackson. We then walked around and I got dan Jennings on the last card I had of his. Then we got willie on three cards and two multi signed items and Jackson on a ball and flag.

As there were no other signings, we went to seminar about the farm system and I was able to get Chris Getz on three cards.

There won't be much tomorrow as there isn't a lot of wants that are early.  So far it has been a very productive and fun weekend.

Soxfest day 1 results

my phone is not allowing me to update photos well so a narative will do for now.

It seemed like soxfest was going to be less attended this year. We got there a little later than normal but it was obvious I was correct in my assumption.  We dropped our stuff off (including our thome bobbleheads) and we went ahead and headed down to the waiting area (around 2:30).

After last years craziness following the opening ceremonies, they decided to not do chairs and they would let one side out first and then the other side.  I thought it would be a disaster but it actually worked pretty well and was pretty safe.

My son really wanted to get a Carlton Fisk photo after listening to an interview with him so we went there first. He signed a photo for my wife and I and we were off and running.

Since we were pretty far up in that line, we went to another 5:00 signing with Charlie tilson and zack burdi. Both signed two multi signed items and zack signed three cards.

There weren't more signing until 6:30 so we got brac1ets for don cooper and curt hasler.  We then went to get something to eat.  As we were eating, we saw nate jones getting interviewed by wls.  I got some cards ready and he signed 3/3 for me.  Later, we saw dan pasqua and he signed thee cards for me and later he signed three for my wife.  Steverson was also there and I had him sign a sga flag.

We then decided to go to the signing. Cooper bailed and steverson took his place.  Hasler signed two multi signed items.

We then went to the Ken kravec and Eric soderholm braclets and went back by the wls area.  Lucas giolito, Carlos rodon, jake petricka and dan Jennings were meeting with some donors.  I waited and got signatures on cards from rodon-1/3, Jennings 1/3 and petricka 3/3.  I was pumped to get rodon.

We then head to get kravec and soderholm.  Both sign our 2 multisigned items and Eric signs the two extra cards I sent and kravec signed the 6 cards.  I have some team photos that I would like to get signed as well if possible.

There is only one more signing for the day and that is with Jennings, petricka and jones.  We get the braclet and then see that ed farmer is signing at the csn booth.  He signed two cards, the flag and a multi signed item. We then get in line to get the three pitchers on the flag and 2 more cards from petricka, theee from Jennings and two more from jones.  All great guys.  Unfortunately, Jennings missed my 2016 topps black card but I am grateful.

There were no more signings for the day so we walked around looking to see if there were any more players out.  We first see Tim Anderson and Tyler saladino.  Tim didn't sign but tyler signed three cards for us.  Then I got a picture with Carlton Fisk.  Finally, I saw darrin Jackson working in the kids area.  I waited and he signed theee cards for me and theee for my wife.

I was thrilled with my day and was happy to call it a day.  While we were getting some food, I realized I was missing my ATM card.  I figured it was with me so I decided to go to our room and look for it.  Unfortunately, I could t find it.  I decided to go back down and check with some places that I purchased things. Although at first, I didn't see it, I did see Jose Abreu and he signed one card for me.

I eventually got to security and fortunately, my ATM card was returned.

This was, by far, our most successful day of sox fest.  I look forward to seeing how tomorrow works.

SoxFest Weekend!

This is one of my favorite weekends of the year.  In the dead of winter, there is a gathering of Sox fans and a chance to geek out on my favorite team with others.  Doesn't get much better than that!  Where I live, there aren't alot of White Sox fans.  Most are Cubs, Cardinals or Reds which adds to the excitement.  I have my stuff all packed and we will hit the road a little later today.

We opted out of doing the MVP pass which seems to be a good move based on the lineup.

Jim Thome-Saturday-9:00

My first priority will be Carlton Fisk as my son listened to the interview with him on the cycle and said he really liked him.  For a 7 year old, he has good taste.  After, I'm probably going to avoid the long lines for Frank and Thome and go for some of the prospects and alums.  On the current team, I really like Saladino and Jones so I will probably target them.

I will post my results each day if my phone allows me to.

Chris Sale Relic and Carlos Rodon Auto Relic

These two items came from a recent ebay splurge.

Still a little bummed that Chris Sale is no longer on the White Sox but I know it was the right move.  Hoping Rodon takes another big step this year.

Holiday purchases/trades

Got some good cards via trade/sport lots purchase over winter break.  I've put alot of non White Sox cards on sportlots and have basically been able to sell alot of base cards and been able to get some good relic cards and #d cards in return.  Here was what I got over winter break.
